Modern Whimsical Wedding in Black, White, Gold & Pink

Black and white and gold all over, with a touch of pink – what’s not to love about this fun color palette beautifully curated by the talented Haydee of Sweetest Celebrations. An elegant black tie wedding is elevated to new heights with subtle accents in gold, and a flash of hot pink brings an unexpected whimsical flair to the event.

The Inspiration:

The modern bride is someone who takes a classic and romantic gown with a full ruffled skirt and gives it new life with a fun organza flower. Classic stripes in black and white bring a modern feel to the event, from the drinks served under a circus like tent in stripes, to the fun boutonniere worn by the groom.

Gold flatware and plating treats guests like royalty, but the striped straws keep the event casual, while adding a touch of whimsy at the same time. Pink and gold are scattered throughout the wedding in unexpected places — the tiny flags on the straws, the monogram cake topper, and some fun balloons that can be used as photo props for the guests and bridal party.

This inspiration board is the perfect combination of the modern and whimsical. It is for the modern, hip couple that wants to have fun at their wedding, while still providing their guests with a beautifully elegant experience.

Sydney City Wedding by Hilary Cam Photography

A wedding overlooking Sydney Harbour always comes with a spectacular factor, but when we saw this gorgeous modern affair by Hilary Cam Photography we knew it was much more than a collection of gorgeous city views. Meet Diana and Greg. Both grew up in China, both decided to study in Australia, and both found each other, here in Sydney. Their heartfelt ceremony at the Little Bay Chapel left not a dry eye in the house, as Greg recounted watching the sun rising over The Great Wall of China and how the new light in his life, Diana, and watching their first sunrise together in Little Bay – surpassed it by far! So romantic. Their beautiful reception was at L’Aqua Cockle Bay where lovely bride Diana changed into a second wedding gown and then the party began with heartfelt speeches, hilarious games and wonderful food.

From the photographer:

When I first met Greg and Diana I was blown away by Diana’s attention to detail and wedding planning skills. She was enthusiastic and curious and had more than the usual questions. Emails were exchanged (40 to be precise) before a single photo was to be taken! I was a little nervous as a result, but Greg and Diana turned out to be an absolute pleasure to work with – always good spirited and very excited about every aspect of planning their day! Greg and Diana are anything but your regular couple, they wanted moustaches at their wedding, encountered zombies on their engagement, and their wedding day was a feast of gorgeous details and incredible food – all that planning paid off!

Picnic By The Sea by Trigger Happy Images

We just adore unforgettable engagement sessions, and this Noosa love shoot from Trigger Happy Images happens to be downright amazing! Gorgeous couple Tegan and Jordan captured their romance not just with a pretty picnic setting, lounging in the sun, and listening to the strum of a guitar. But they hit the jackpot by including a stroll along the breathtaking headland with the sun setting no less! Luckily for us (and you), the talented folks at Trigger Happy were happy to share…

From the bride-to-be:

Jordan and I met 19 years ago in ‘Year One’. Despite showing very little interest in me at the time, he managed to make a lasting impression on me as i can clearly remember from my primary school days thinking that i wanted to marry someone like Jordan when i grow up. It wasn’t until i left that particular school and some 11 years after that, that we crossed paths again at church. It was only then that he took an interest and finally asked me out (i’d been waiting for quite some time!).

For our one year anniversary we decided to celebrate by spending the weekend in Noosa. Little did I know that there was soon to be more reason to celebrate! Jordan had organised a picnic by the bay, where he popped the question. We wanted to keep our engagement relaxed and true to us – acoustic tunes over a picnic by the sea, much like the day Jordan proposed. We are counting down the days until we say the ‘I dos’ at the most beautiful property in the Byron Hinterland in the presence of our closest friends and family. We have loved every second of our journey together over the last 2 years, so much in fact we’ve been inspired to create Roost Film Co, a boutique film house specialising in short cinematic films to capture life’s special moments! http://vimeo.com/roostfilmco

From the photographers:

We spent one perfect afternoon with Tegan & Jordan, capturing the love, down at Fingal Headland in Northern NSW. The conditions were perfect: gorgeous people, stunning light, gorgeous location, a picnic, sparklers, party poppers and champagne. We couldn’t ask for better. We ended up spending over 2 hours with these guys and we think the images really show. No one was rushing, we were all just relaxed and having fun!

Renewal of Vows French Country Style by Belle Momenti Photography

After three days of extensive Asian/Western wedding celebrations, Aaron and Sheena, who were unable to fulfill their ambition of marrying abroad, decided that they would one day renew their vows in a more intimate setting. Through their mutual love of travel, culture and all-things European, they decided that the location should be in an authentic, real-life fairytale castle – Château des Buis, situated in the Rhones/Alps region of France. At nearly 850 years old, the Château is steeped in history and filled with French ambience and tradition, giving Aaron and Sheena the intimacy they were seeking, with breath-taking views over the surrounding countryside.

From the photographers: In the morning, the venue’s hair and makeup artists arrived at the Château to help Sheena create her bridal look whilst Aaron relaxed with his best man. After some individual stylized photographs the couple renewed their vows in the beautifully renovated stone Orangerie, which had been decorated for an intimate ceremony.

The couple lit a Unity Candle to mark the occasion, witnessed by their two best friends, before making their way to the beautiful fresco adorned coach entrance for confetti throwing. Afterwards, Aaron and Sheena were photographed in all of the key locations in and around the Château – from the wonderful gated courtyard to the classically beautiful staircase, opulent bridal suite and ‘Salle de Freques.’ Sheena was even captured throwing her bouquet of red roses from the tower to her Prince below in a gesture of pure romance!

Aaron and Sheena then moved into the Écurie, for a lavish yet intimate reception meal with their friends and an appropriate toast of the Château’s own Grand Cru Rose wine. After cutting their cake – a chocolate gateau covered in a Chantilly cream icing – the couple fed each other ‘Tart au praline’ – a delicious specialty of the region. Unbeknownst to the happy couple, their family and closest friends had contacted the Château beforehand, to offer their congratulations and loving wishes. Lucy, the Château’s dedicated wedding planner, transferred these messages to handmade labels and tied these with coloured ribbons onto a wishing tree…adding a further surprise to their day!

To end the celebrations, Sheena changed into her Asian wedding dress, which she wore on her wedding day, before joining Aaron to dance under the candle lit lanterns that Lucy had arranged for them. Finally, after a night’s stay in the Château’s bridal suite, they were awakened with yet another personal touch – a champagne breakfast complete with croissants from the local artisan bakery.
