Do you fancy a little nautical inspired wedding to drool over today? How about one with a striking navy blue and yellow palette, luxury decor and elegant touches of gold meticulously put together by Bluebell Events. One where the nautical touches are tasteful and sophisticated without playing out too much of a ‘nautical theme’ – and the entire day plays out on the grounds of a gorgeous country club. Sounds perfect right? Well there’s more. . . a luxury outdoor lounging area for guests, an awesome 80s party band, and a fabulous hamburger truck to satisfy those midnight cravings. It’s really too much ‘loveliness’ than this girl can bear! So settle in because we have an array of gorgeous photographs snapped by Robert Evans Studios for you to lap up. Enjoy!
Bride Jennifer shares:
What was the vision for your wedding?
An elegant ceremony in a naturally beautiful setting transitioning to a seated 4 course dinner, followed by a high energy, 80’s party.
Wedding Theme & Colour Palette
Sterling, the grooms family founded the California Yacht club and the Riviera Country Club. Sterlings grandparents, Charles and Patty Hathaway, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary that day as well. Our color palette was hints of nautical decor in navy and yellow with gold accents.
Wedding Flowers & Cake
The flowers were combinations of yellow and cream with green foliage and our wedding cake was a simple 3 tiered square cake with 3 different flavors (chocolate chip, carrot & marble).
My wedding dress was from the White Dress in Corona Del Mar, Rosa Clara Nadia. The bridesmaids dresses were from J Crew.
Did you include any DIY or personalized details?
The escort cards were different nautical flags as were the place cards which Charley King’s assistant made. The escort cards were actual flags and sat in a handmade white wood box with blue sea glass.
What made your wedding unique?
We had the Spazmatics play. We both love 80’s music and it was really important that our guests had a lot of fun. The Spazmatics got guests of all ages out on the dance floor and the band was accompanied by a late night visit by the In-n-out truck.
What was your biggest challenge?
Planning the event in 6 months was somewhat challenging as we had to make decisions very quickly but it all came together perfectly.
What were your favorite moments?
When the sun came out just in time as guests started arriving and it turned into a beautiful clear day. Our vows. Cory, Sterling’s brother’s speech and the best man’s speech. And of course the Spazmatics band who got everyone up and dancing.
How would you sum up your wedding day?
Everything went smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time celebrating! We wouldn’t change one thing!
Thanks Jennifer for sharing your thoughts and congratulations to you and Sterling on a superb wedding day!
