The Golden Globes Best Dresses 2012

The Golden Globes award night is always a star-studded affair with a bevy of beautiful celebrities gracing the red carpet. This year we saw some of the biggest fashion trends for 2012 on show with lots of neutral shades of white, beige and cream, along with a sea of sparkles. The mermaid silhouette was also a very popular dress choice making a dramatic impact in a variety of styles. In contrast, there were stunning dresses in rich burgundies, bold blues and metallic and texturized fabrics. Although feedback regarding the standard of Golden Globe dresses this year received mixed reviews, we still believe there are some stunning looks which should provide great inspiration for bride’s and their 2012 aisle style. Let’s take a look at our pick of the best dresses:

Angelina Jolie in true old Hollywood glam style, rocked this Atelier Versace gown with red shoulder accent.

Nicole Richie looked a million bucks in this shimmering silver Julien Macdonald dress.

Our jaws dropped when we saw ‘the body’ Elle Macpherson in her Zac Posen cream corseted gown. Featuring layers of tulle underneath a mermaid silhouette it is just breathtaking.

Sofia Vergera flaunted a deep blue Vera Wang mermaid silhouette gown, perfect for showing off her fab curves.

Jessica Alba looked pretty and feminine in a sparkly embellished, blush tone strapless Gucci gown.

Natalie Portman made a colorful impact in a hot pink Lanvin gown paired with Tiffany & Co jewellery.

Jessica Biel donned an Elie Saab vintage-style lace gown which could easily be mistaken for a stylish wedding dress (take note ladies!).

Claire Danes gave the red carpet a striking contrast with this chic black and cream J. Mendel dress with stunning cut-out back and beaded lace-capped sleeves.

We’re loving Heidi Klum‘s cool and elegant look in a beige Calvin Klein dress teamed with a statement turquoise necklace. This look can easily be translated from the red carpet to a sophisticated beach or destination wedding event (hint hint).

All we could think was ‘wow’ when we spotted Charlize Theron in this amazing pastel Dior Couture dress with thigh high split. This would have to be our pick for best dressed on the night what do you think?

Finally, an honorable mention to Elle Macpherson once again for hitting the mark with her choice of gowns for the Golden Globes After Party. This gold mermaid dress is an absolute stunner!
